Slay your Dragon Conclave
Report by Ethan White, Past State Master Councilor of Nebraska
I am Ethan White, and I am a has-been; I was the 101st State Master Councilor of Nebraska. I have been asked to reflect on my ‘Slay your Dragon’ term as State Master Councilor and my Conclave, held in July 2022.
Through the course of my term, we raised thousands of dollars for Relay for Life and started up an Instagram with the help of my amazing State Sweetheart, Maddie Berner. She did a phenomenal job representing us boys and was the voice of reason in our passionate and energetic team. My Brothers, Kolyn Beard and Caleb Malousek, both have made extreme improvements in both their own lives and the lives of those around them. Kolyn stepped up at the 2021 Conclave and I was pleased to pass him the torch knowing Nebraska would be in good hands.
My Conclave was scheduled to the brim with ritual competitions, fun events, a hospitality room, and even a little bit of swimming and dancing! Overall, my Conclave was phenomenal, entirely due to my strong team that was willing to redirect my passion and love for our order and make it a reality. At the end of the night, when the foam swords and dragon eggs were cleared off the tables, I found myself crying about many things; all the people I had the chance to meet, to represent, and those who brought me to this moment. I could not have been happier about the Conclave I had and the people I shared it with.
Our Order has had 101 years of brotherhood and a lot has changed, but what hasn’t changed, is that DeMolay is about the quality of the young men that join it and enjoy our membership. I am certain that DeMolay has many new journeys ahead, and new growth will be found. Although we don’t know what that future might look like, I will leave you with this; “The best way to predict the future, is to create it.” Abe Lincoln.

Fall Fest
Report by Kolyn Beard, State Master Councilor of Nebraska
On Sunday, October 30th our second annual Fall Fest was held in an amazing location in Lincoln, Pioneers Park. We had several sports including Spike Ball, Badminton, Kickball, and Ultimate Frisbee. We had hotdogs and hamburgers to eat for dinner. It was a great event and we can’t wait to do it again next year.
Masonic Youth Leadership Conference
Reported by Sarah Warwick, Nebraska State Sweetheart
The Masonic Youth Leadership Conference was held in Kearney, NE on October 8th and 9th. The event was originally scheduled to be held in 2020, but due to the pandemic it had been postponed for two years. Members from all three Masonic Youth organizations were represented. The entire group was split into three groups to do some breakout sessions. These sessions consisted of a presentation by Damsel in Defense, a Masonic Youth focus session, and helping out the Mid-Nebraska Food Bank in Kearney. We also had sessions lead by keynote speakers and a hypnotist. I can’t wait to attend this event again in three years!
Masonic Youth Campfire
Reported by Caleb Malousek, State Senior Councilor
Lincoln Chapter hosted a Masonic Youth Campfire at Roca Berry Farm. Organizations had a chance to come and see DeMolay, Rainbow, and Job’s. The youth had an opportunity to go to the scarier attractions, where they spent the rest of the night bonding.
Caleb did not submit any photos for this event, please enjoy these photos of him visiting the DeMolay members of Cedar Rapids Iowa in its place.
Stay tuned for the 2023 adventures.
